The article deals with 3D geometric modelling of a radial-flow pump intermediate stage. The process described in the article uses modern engineering CAD (computer-aided design) system. A continuous-transfer-area guiding device being the most widespread design concept for radial-flow pumps, it is chosen the object of the research.
Individual blocks are separated on the basis of a system analysis of the research object and a block-module approach to the modeling process. The process of developing a solid model is divided into separate stages, which provide for obtaining full-fledged model of the guiding device pre-selected blocks. Special attention is paid to geometric relationships to provide for easy upgrading and restructuring the blocks.
To illustrate the research results there are given the main stages of the block-modelling with the help of Solid Works.
The technique is multi-purpose and can be realized by means of other CAD applications, as well as for researching guiding devices of various design conceptsReferences
