Currently, there is a tendency on Ukrainian railroad to increase the time of turnover of the freight car and the duration of wagons’ staying on railway yards. Considerable impact on the detention of car at the railway yards exerts that fact, that the train, ready for departure, waits for locomotives. The analysis shows that the average downtime on stations in Ukraine is 1.5 hours, but may reach up to 3 hours or more. The share of waiting time of trains for locomotives in general downtime at the stations is from 10% to 60%. This testifies about the spare to reduce the downtime. The main reasons for the existence of substantial non-productive downtime of trains, waiting for locomotives in receiving-stations, are on the one hand, the shortage of operable traction rolling stock on the railways of Ukraine, on the other hand - poor management of the available engine yard. Thus, the questions of improving the efficiency of operational management technologies of available engine yard with limited traction resources gain particular currency. The solution of this problem and the implementation of the results will increase the efficiency of employment of locomotives and working hours of locomotive teams, and will reduce unproductive downtime of trains at stations, decrease operational costs of railroads.References
