The efficiency of the image compression in сВХ2Х3 space

Recent efforts to improve the efficiency of static images and video sequences compression focused on the adaptive methods which separately compress texture region, contours of objects and homogeneous regions. To implement these methods, you’ll need to prepare the image by segment on regions containing textures, shapes of objects and homogeneous region. Such image pre-processing increase the efficiency of compression and called proadaptivity. In this paper we investigate the proadaptive properties of the сВХ2Х3 compressive transformation with the variable coefficient and subsampling schema and analysis of the efficiency of image compression. It is shown, that by using the PPMd compression method and subsampling a scheme of 4:1:0, the color components can be compressed to 15 times without noticeable visual distortions.References
