Journal Policy on Artificial Intelligence
All participants in the editorial process - authors, reviewers, and the editorial team - are expected to adhere to the principles of research integrity and transparency in the use of artificial intelligence. Failure to disclose the use of AI will be considered a violation of the journal’s ethical standards and may result in rejection of the submitted manuscript or retraction of an already published article.
Use of AI by Authors
Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts and must transparently disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools. AI may only be employed as a supportive tool, for purposes such as:
-
language and stylistic editing;
-
technical formatting;
-
creation of visualizations or illustrative materials;
-
preliminary statistical analysis of data.
The use of AI to generate scientific results, fabricate or falsify data, automatically produce text without thorough human verification, or circumvent academic integrity requirements is strictly prohibited.
AI tools cannot be considered authors or co-authors of manuscripts. Full responsibility for the content of the article rests with the human authors. If AI technologies were used during the preparation of the manuscript, this must be explicitly stated within the text or in a footnote.
Use of AI by Reviewers
Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or their parts to external AI-powered services, as this would compromise the confidentiality of the peer review process.
Reviewers are expected to rely primarily on their own expertise and judgment when evaluating manuscripts. The use of AI is acceptable only in a supportive capacity, for instance, to improve clarity of language in the reviewer’s own comments, to check grammar, or to assist with literature searches that remain within the reviewer’s professional discretion. Reviewers remain fully accountable for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their evaluations.
If a reviewer chooses to employ AI tools in any aspect of the review process, this use must be disclosed transparently to the editorial office, typically through confidential comments to the editor. Under no circumstances should AI-generated text or assessments be presented as the reviewer’s own analysis.
Failure to follow these principles, including undisclosed use of AI, may result in removal from the reviewer pool and could be considered a breach of professional and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
Use of AI by the Editorial Team
The editorial office may employ AI technologies for technical tasks such as plagiarism detection, identification of stylistic errors, or verification of reference accuracy. However, editorial decisions, assessment of scientific novelty, and acceptance or rejection of manuscripts remain the sole responsibility of human editors. Any use of AI within editorial workflows must be conducted under the supervision of qualified staff.
